Data Requests
Welcome to the homepage of the Data Request Team (DRT)! The purpose of the DRT is to provide our stakeholders with access to data to make informed decisions supporting our Vision for Student Success that every student will learn at grade level and beyond through effective Tier 1 practices.
Prior to making any specific requests to the DRT via the form linked below, we ask all visitors to review the resources, queries and reports that are already available.
Data resources for SMBSD & non SMBSD employees:
We invite you to first check currently available resources for the information you are interested in. If you are unable to find the information you are looking for, you may submit a request for data here. (Please note that release of student/staff information is governed by Board Policy XYZ)
DataQuest provides meaningful data and statistics about California's K-12 public educational system that supports a wide variety of informational, research, and policy needs. Summary and detailed data reports are available for multiple subject areas at the school, district, county, and state levels.
Ed-Data is a partnership of the California Department of Education, EdSource, and the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team/California School Information Services (FCMAT/CSIS) designed to offer educators, policy makers, the legislature, parents, and the public quick access to timely and comprehensive data about K-12 education in California.
The California School Dashboard provides parents and educators with meaningful information on school and district progress so they can participate in decisions to improve student learning.

Data resources for SMBSD Staff:
Depending on your specific role within the School District, you may have access to one or more databases with student information. Prior to making any specific requests to the DRT via the form listed below, we ask all SMBSD staff to review the resources, queries, and reports that are already available. Please remember that the sharing of this information to non authorized individuals is strictly prohibited.
Aeries - The district uses the Aeries Student Information System to maintain student demographic, attendance, health, counseling, and grade reporting data. Within Aeries there are hundreds of useful reports available. An overview of those reports is viewable here. In addition to reports, Aeries also has a very robust query tool that allows for the creation of custom data requests. To learn more about queries and see some examples of the most requested queries, please click here. Data request form, click here.
Note: Each employee's specific access to reports and queries is based on their current role within the school district.
If you have any questions, regarding Aeries, please email Cristina Piña (cpina@smbsd.net).

SchoolCity - The district uses SchoolCity for the creation of local assessments and for the analysis of state/federal assessments. SchoolCity also contains some of the same demographic data available via Aeries. Some of the common reports used within SchoolCity are:
- CAASPP
- Custom Report
- Demographic Report
- ELPAC (Initial and Summative)
- KSEP
- NWEA
- Student History Report
This folder contains tutorials that show how to navigate the platform.
NWEA - The Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Growth Assessment is given 2-3 times per year and is used to determine what the student knows and is ready to learn next. MAP Growth can track students’ individual growth over the years time – wherever they are starting from and regardless of the grade they are in. Some of the common reports used within NWEA are:
- Class Reports
- Grade Reports
- Growth Reports
- Learning Continuum Reports
- Projected Proficiency Summary
- Student Reports
Note: Each employee's specific access to reports is based on their current role within the school district.
This slide deck contains a summary of each report available in NWEA.
