Facility Master Plan

With feedback provided via the community, the Santa Maria-Bonita School District has worked in unity with the DLR Group Architects to develop a Facility Master Plan.

It is important for the community to understand that this plan is not something that the District is able to implement over a specified timeline.  Rather, this tool ensures that as funding becomes available, informed decisions can be made to help prioritize and better execute these recommended improvements. A link to that plan can be found here: https://www.smbsdplan.org/

What is a Facility Master Plan?

Per the California Department of Education:

A Facility Master Plan (FMP) is the compilation and analysis of the information needed by a school board and its community to make informed decisions about school facilities. A FMP is a working document adopted by a formal resolution of the school board after a public hearing. The FMP must be monitored continually and updated frequently to be an effective planning tool.

For more details on what a Facility Master Plan is, what it is used for and how it is developed, please see this Fact Sheet created by the California Department of Education.
