The purpose of the New Teacher Academy is to support and retain all new teachers and to ensure the highest quality education for our students. The New Teacher Academy is in addition to their induction program and meant to provide individualized support as well as learning specific to SMBSD goals and vision. New teachers will be categorized into three different levels of support: Year 1 New to teaching with SMBSD onboarding support, Year 2 New to teaching plus induction, New to SMBSD with clear credentials.
The purpose of the Substitute Teacher Training Program is to ensure high quality instruction for SMBSD students every single day. Substitute teachers are incredibly important to the success of our students. In order to be prepared for any teaching environment, training modules have been developed to support both short term and long term substitute teachers. Daily substitutes will attend one bootcamp session prior to accepting substitute assignments. Long term substitutes will receive continued support through their participation in our New Teacher Onboarding Program. Our goal is to prepare SMBSD substitute teachers to provide uninterrupted high quality instruction for all students everyday.
