SMBSD G.A.T.E. Certificate

Teachers of gifted and talented students will have opportunities to obtain professional development throughout the school year.  The Certificate requires an initial 24 hours of approved professional development and 3 hours every year thereafter for renewal of the certificate.
Training opportunities should afford the educator information and learning in the following areas:

  • Characteristics of gifted and talented students
  • Meeting the needs of gifted and talented students
  • Social/emotional needs of gifted and talented students
  • Differentiation options in the classroom
  • Ways to extend and deepen the core curriculum and standards
  • Working with parents of gifted and talented students
